When I first started there, our small office seemed like a basement in the far corner of an underground tunnel, and no one seemed to know we existed. We were there secretly stalking all the real-life updates from multiple sources and fixing the TV data accordingly to reflect the present reality – one or two pounds gained or lost by a jockey, or blinkers added or removed from that race’s running horses, some horses were newly “scratched” altogether for a race.
