…ly, Mom stretches out her arms,
 stiff as planks of wood,
 and awkwardly claps her hands together.
 Her eyes catch a spark,
 the fire, brimstone, and spirit of a tent revival.
 God’s breath whispers the old gospel song
 through her quivering voice.
 She’s ready to die, wrapped in a shawl
 made of hallelujahs, secure in a grace
 that’s warmer than any memory.
